Size Guide

One unisex chart per garment, straight off the manufacturer's spec sheet. Every design is cut and sized unisex, so there is no separate men's or women's chart to reconcile.

Measurements

Garment measurements

All measurements are of the garment laid flat, not of your body. Chest and waist figures are flat across-the-garment measurements, so double them to compare against a body circumference.

Every measurement carries a normal manufacturing tolerance of about half an inch either way. That is standard for cut-and-sew apparel and is not a defect.

Method

How to measure

The most reliable thing you can do is measure a garment you already own and compare it to the tables above. Second most reliable is measuring yourself. Guessing from a letter is a distant third.

What you need
A soft tape measure and a flat surface. If all you have is a rigid tape, lay a length of string along the garment, mark it, then measure the string.
Chest
Lay the garment flat, smooth out the wrinkles, and measure straight across from armpit seam to armpit seam. That flat number is what the chart lists. To compare against your own body, measure around the fullest part of your chest and halve it.
Body length
From the highest point of the shoulder seam, straight down the front of the garment, to the bottom hem. Abbreviated HPS on spec sheets.
Waist
Lay the pants or shorts flat with the waistband relaxed rather than stretched, and measure straight across. Double it for the relaxed circumference. These waistbands stretch considerably beyond the relaxed measurement, so relaxed waist is a floor, not a ceiling.
Front rise
From the top of the waistband down the front to the crotch seam. A longer rise sits closer to the natural waist, a shorter one sits at the hip. It is the number that decides how a jogger actually feels.
Inseam
From the crotch seam straight down the inside of the leg to the hem.
The reliable method
Take a garment you already own and reach for, lay it flat, measure it, and match those numbers against the chart. Comparing to something real beats guessing from a letter every time.

Fit

Choosing your size

Everything here is cut unisex, which runs straighter and roomier through the body than women's-cut apparel. That is the single fact that resolves most sizing questions we get.

  • Everything is cut unisex. There is no separate men's or women's chart to reconcile, and the artwork is not gendered in any direction.
  • Coming from women's sizing? Unisex runs straighter and roomier through the body. Sizing down one from your usual women's size gets you closer to a fitted look.
  • Between sizes on a hoodie? Size down for a closer fit, stay true to size for the relaxed cut it was designed as, size up for oversized.
  • Layering under the hoodie? Stay true to size. The room is already built in.
  • Sizing the sweatpants? Waist is elastic, so the number that decides the fit is the front rise and the inseam. Check both against a pair you already wear.
  • Tolerance. Every measurement carries a normal manufacturing tolerance of about half an inch either way. That is standard for cut-and-sew apparel and is not a defect.
  • Still unsure? Email us your usual size in a brand you already own and we will give you a straight recommendation. We would much rather answer a fit question than process a return.

Sourcing

Where these numbers come from

Every number on this page is transcribed from the manufacturer's published measurement specification report for the named blank. Nothing here is estimated. Where a mill does not publish a point of measurement we leave it out and say so underneath the table, rather than filling the gap with a plausible guess.

The four charts above are taken from the published measurement specification reports for BELLA+CANVAS 3719 Unisex Sponge Fleece Pullover Hoodie, BELLA+CANVAS 3001 Unisex Jersey Tee, BELLA+CANVAS 3727 Unisex Jogger Sweatpants, BELLA+CANVAS 3724 Unisex Sweatshort. Each table links directly to the document it was transcribed from, so you can check our arithmetic against the mill.

Our blanks are sourced through our own production operation in Long Island, New York rather than a third-party print-on-demand catalog, which is why we can name the exact style number on every chart instead of publishing a generic size table. If you need a measurement the mill does not publish, ask us and we will put a tape on a real garment for you.
