Where a Life Path number comes from
A Life Path number comes from a birth date. Add every digit of the month, day and year together, then keep adding the digits of the result until one digit is left. The three master numbers, 11, 22 and 33, are the exception: they stop where they are rather than reducing. It is the number numerology treats as the main one.

The 3
Three is what happens when 1 and 2 make something. It is the number of output: the joke, the song, the sentence, the drawing, the story told well enough that a room goes quiet. Life Path 3 people are wired to externalize. Whatever is happening inside them is going to end up outside of them, in some form, whether or not they intend it.
This makes Threes magnetic and slightly unmanageable. They are usually funny, usually observant, and usually carrying more feeling than their delivery suggests. Humor is the most common 3 defense mechanism, and the highest-functioning Threes are the ones who noticed that about themselves and decided to be serious on purpose sometimes.
The work of a 3 is depth over volume. The number produces easily, which means it can produce endlessly without ever finishing anything worth finishing. A 3 who applies discipline to their output becomes formidable, because the raw material was never the problem. Scattered energy is the only thing standing between most Threes and the thing they keep saying they will make.
Which numbers the 3 runs with
Ones and Fives match a 3's tempo. Nines give a 3 something worth saying. Fours are the least fun and most useful pairing a 3 will ever have.
The shadow side
The overplayed 3 is charm without follow-through. It looks like being delightful in the room and unreachable afterward, promising things in the warmth of the moment and meaning them at the time. The tell is a trail of people who like you enormously and have stopped relying on you.
